This is a replacement (stop) switch.
When the pedal is depressed, the switch is activated and sends a signal to the solenoid, allowing your golf cart to start.
When it is released, the circuit is open and the car stopped.
If your car won’t start and you don’t hear the solenoid click, the problem could be either this switch or the key switch.
