Why is my golf cart brake drum stuck?
- The brake drum can get rusted on the cart, in which case it will be almost impossible to get it out. It is better to keep a lookout for such possibilities.
- A ridge can form over the outer portion of the rotor due to continuous start and stop. The ridge can get wearied in over time, and if you have the slightest tension on the brake shoes, they will refuse to come off.
- Sometimes the ridge can get very deep, causing a very serious problem and the drum won’t come off at all. You will need to remove this ridge to make it smooth and take out the drum of the brake in the golf cart.
- In order to detect the mentioned friction on the brake shoes, do keep a lookout for a constant rubbing sound on your wheels.
How to remove brake drums on a golf cart?
For the easiest method, look out for a rubber grommet at the back end of the braking assembly.
- Remove the rubber Grommet from the rear end of the braking assembly.
- Using a screwdriver, push into the hole of the automatic adjuster to unlock it.
- Next insert a second screwdriver to rotate the lock wheel.
- Then safely open the drum.
